Because the championship leader hasn't even reached half of the points, the battle is still wide open. Although Marquez is currently leading the championship, his unbeatable form is starting to crack as Suzuki, Ducati and Yamaha are creeping in on him, closer and closer. The qualifying session confirmed this, resulting in a three-way fight between Rins, Vignales and Quartararo. It was the latter who took pole position, only by a very narrow margin. Championship leader Marquez qualified fourth overall.
The race was another one for the history books. Only a few laps after the race took off, the thousands of fans all dressed in yellow, rooting for the Doctor, Valentino Rossi were harshly disappointed after the Italian collided with another rider biting the dust in the gravel trap. A few laps later disaster would strike again for the man who was leading the race with the Suzuki ace, crashing out of his lead. He handed over P1 to his team mate Joan Mir. Shortly after the Spanish rookie got overrun by the chasing talents behind him, to the likes of Marques and Vignales. After a thrilling 26 laps it was the Yamaha rider who took the chequered flag.
