Deputy Chief of Public Security inaugurates a seminar on combating trafficking in persons in the Arab world

Chief of Public Security Lieutenant-General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, delegated Major General Dr. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Deputy Chief of Public Security, at the opening of the seminar "the Reality of Combating Trafficking in Persons in the Arab World". The seminar was organised by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science and managed Director-General of Media and Security Culture Brigadier Mohammed Bin Dina, with the participation of experts and specialists from inside and outside Kingdom of Bahrain.

Deputy Chief of Public Security expressed his congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, on the occasion of that Kingdom of Bahrain maintained its position in the first category for combating trafficking in persons for the fifth year in a row in the report of the US State Department. Also, Deputy Chief of Public Security conveyed the greetings of HE Interior Minister to the participants and hailed the continuous efforts carried out by all the authorities in the Kingdom in combating trafficking in persons.

Meanwhile, Brigadier Mohammed Bin Daina expressed his thanks to Deputy Chief of Public Security for his speech and hailed the Kingdom's achievements in combating trafficking in persons. Also, Brigadier Bin Daina attributed that success to the support and guidance of His Majesty the King, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and HE Interior Minister.

During the seminar, working papers that included many topics were reviewed. Dr. Hatem Fouad Ali, the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for the GCC countries, gave a presentation on the close cooperation between the United Nations office and Kingdom of Bahrain, and the role of the office in providing the necessary support and training to those in charge.

Ambassador Dr. Arwa Hassan Al-Sayed, Head of the Human Rights Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made a working paper, in which she touched on the role of the Ministry in combating the crime of trafficking in persons, pointing to the aspects of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons to achieve the Kingdom's vision to combat this crime.

For his part, Dr. Ali Abbas Al-Shuwaikh, Attorney General at the Public Prosecution, reviewed the role of the Public Prosecution in confronting the crime, especially that the Kingdom of Bahrain is one of the first countries to establish a special prosecution for crimes of trafficking in persons.

The Director of Anti -Human Trafficking and Protection of Public Morals at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science highlighted the directorate's efforts to combat these crimes and spread a culture of awareness in this regard.

Ms. Sherine Al-Saati, Director of the Grievances and Protection Department at the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, member of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons, presented a working paper, in which she touched on the most prominent efforts and achievements made in cooperation with all partners, which contributed to the Kingdom of Bahrain achieving this international position in the field of combating the crime of trafficking in persons.

On behalf of the Arab Office for Drugs and Organized Crime, Dr. Bassem Al-Faqir presented a working paper that included the most important tasks carried out by the office, as well as cooperation and coordination among all Arab countries to combat this crime.

Dr. Faleh bin Salem Al-Qahtani, Associate Professor of Public Law and Vice Dean of the College of Criminal Justice at Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, presented a working paper, which included scientific efforts and courses taught to consolidate human rights values ​​in addition to cooperation with the International Organization for Migration as well as Interpol. Rev. Hani Aziz, pastor of the Evangelical Church in Bahrain, highlighted the religious tolerance in the Kingdom of Bahrain and its pioneering role in this field.

At the conclusion, the Director- General of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science delivered a closing speech in which he conveyed congratulations to His Majesty the King, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister on the occasion of achieving this great international achievement, appreciating the directives and support of His Excellency the Minister of Interior and thanking Chief of Public Security for sponsoring the seminar .
