Royal Bank raised more than $2,500 for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation through participation in their 2017 Lemonade Days fundraiser. Donations were collected at all Royal Bank locations and online between June 3 and June 11.
The Bank held a Jeans Day on June 9 as part of our efforts. Employees were given the option to donate $5 in exchange for donning their favorite denim (pants) for the day.
Alex's Lemonade Days is their annual campaign in which thousands of supporters from coast to coast host lemonade stands to fight childhood cancer. Held each year during the second weekend of June, Alex's Lemonade Days has raised more than $15 million to help fund cures for pediatric cancer.
Alex's Lemonade emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra 'Alex' Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.
