BISMARCK, N.D., May 10, 2021 - Scott J. Davis has joined the Bismarck Region of Sanford Health as the new head of Native American community outreach. His role will include overseeing tribal specific outreach and develop relationships with all recognized Native American tribes and tribal leaders within central and western North Dakota.

'Working for and with our Tribal Nations for over 20 years, I know full well the challenges our Tribes face when it comes to adequate health care services,' said Davis. 'I am very excited to explore the opportunities and partnerships Sanford can offer Tribal Nations across North Dakota and beyond.'

Davis joins Sanford Health after previously serving as the North Dakota Indian Affairs Commission executive director since April 2009. There, he tackled issues including health care systems, education systems, economic development, and the Burgum-Sanford administration's Tribal Partnerships initiative. He has served three governors, 23 tribal chairs and five tribal nations.

'Scott's experience, dedication and effective leadership in building tribal relations and maintaining relationships will help us fulfill our vision to improve health care for North Dakota tribal members,' said Michael LeBeau, M.D., president/CEO of the Bismarck region of Sanford. 'We are excited to have someone with Scott's background on our team.'

Davis is a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and a descendent of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business and Masters of Management Degree from the University of Mary and an Associate of Arts Degree from Haskell Indian Nations University.

The Sanford Bismarck region provides health care to central and western North Dakota, eastern Montana and northern South Dakota. It includes 21 clinics in Bismarck, Mandan, Minot, Dickinson and Watford City, as well as a Level II trauma center located in Bismarck.
