This Week in Congress

• Senate - The Senate was in recess and met in pro forma session.
• House - The House passed legislation (S. 1301) to raise the debt ceiling by $480 billion, which will allow the federal government to meet its debt obligations through December 3, 2021. The bill was signed into law by President Biden.

Next Week in Congress

• Senate - The Senate is expected to consider the Freedom to Vote Act (S. 2747). The Senate will also continue its consideration of pending nominations.
• House - The House is expected to vote on the Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers Act (H.R. 3110), the Protect Older Job Applicants Act (H.R. 3992), the Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act (H.R. 2119).
