Women's Lacrosse Readies for 2018 Season Opener at Hopkins



The Drexel women's lacrosse team will open its 2018 season on Wednesday afternoon when the Dragons visit Johns Hopkins for a 4 p.m. game. The new-look Dragons will be attempting to improve upon last season's 7-9 overall record and make an early statement against a Johns Hopkins team that is receiving votes in the early Inside Lacrosse poll.

The Dragons will have seven new faces on this year's roster and just two seniors in Molly Savage and Alex Beilman. Savage, alongside sophomores Courtney Dietzel and Jamie Schneidereith, will serve as a captain for this year's team under fifth-year Mary Semanik Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse .

Wszalek herself heads a fresh-faced coaching staff. Formerly Hannah Rudloff, Wszalek added two new assistants for the 2018 season in Corinne Drost and . Drost spent the last three seasons on the staff at her alma mater, the University of Delaware, while Fitzgerald is a 2017 graduate of the University of Florida, where she starred on the perennial powerhouse as a three-time IWLCA All-American.

Drexel faces a Johns Hopkins team that is already 1-0 on the young season, having defeated Marquette 14-7 in its opener on Friday. The Blue Jays are picked fourth in the Big Ten in the program's second year in the conference.
