Denise Clayton Addresses Value-Based Care as Panelist in the Triangle Business Journal’s Health Care 2020 Event

The health care industry is shifting towards value-based care, which presents unprecedented opportunities and challenges for the U.S. health care system. In an effort to understand and address these issues, RTI's Health Care Research Economist Denise Clayton, PhD, will participate in the Triangle Business Journal's Health Care 2020 event on January 18, 2019 as one of four expert panelists. This event, the third in a health care series, looks to review the industry-wide shift to value-based care and what it will mean for providers, payers, employers, and patients in 2020. Triangle health care leaders serving on the panel will discuss the benefits and challenges of this new care model, address the impact on cost from a payer and provider perspective, and evaluate the progress toward value-based care by 2020 on the local and national levels.

Dr. Clayton has been on the forefront of the transition to value-based care in the federal sector supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)-the largest health payer in the country. As a research economist with over 10 years of experience, her expertise focuses on the effects of health policy, insurance benefits, and innovative health care delivery models on health expenditures and utilization. Notably, she leads the evaluation of Idaho's health care delivery and payment model transformation in the State Innovation Model Initiative funded by CMS's Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI).

Health Care 2020 will take place at the StateView Hotel in Raleigh, NC from 7:30AM to 9:30AM. For more information or to register to attend, please visit the Triangle Business Journal's Health Care 2020 event page.
