Carmeuse Huron contributes to the fight against food poverty

Food prices are going up-and are expected to continue to do so. For most of us, this might mean we have to cut back on some non-essential items. But for those on low-incomes, it can mean the difference between having enough to eat or going hungry.

Helping fight back against food poverty, the Carmeuse Huron Operation was proud to be part of the biggest ever food donation to the Huron Helping Hands Food Pantry. In total, over 3 tons of food were collected by the Huron community as part of the 30th annual Letter Carrier's Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive.

The Huron Operation contributed non-perishable food items worth $125.00 to the drive, which were collected by Christine Mollison, Brian Pounds and Dave Thompson for delivery to the Huron Post Office. The food will be distributed to those in need within the Huron community to help make sure everyone has enough to eat.

"The staff at Huron were pleased to be able to part of such a worth cause," said Christine. "Knowing the food collected with stay in Huron and help our neighbors is also gratifying."
