Washington, D.C. - House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul (R-TX), Vice Lead Republican Ann Wagner (R-MO) and International Development, International Organizations and Global Corporate Social Impact Subcommittee Lead Republican Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) visited the southern U.S. border. The group, led by Minority Whip Steve Scalise and joined by other Members of Congress, met with Border Patrol agents, visited two processing centers including the one in Donna, TX, and were briefed by the Rio Grande Valley sector chief. The visit comes after the Foreign Affairs Committee Republicans sent a letter last month to Secretary of State Antony Blinken asking for information pertaining to the Biden Administration's decision to rescind the asylum cooperation agreements with Central American countries and the 'Remain in Mexico' agreement. Below is a joint statement from Reps. McCaul, Wagner and Malliotakis.

'The scenes at the border and especially inside these processing centers were heart-wrenching. Children sleeping on hard floors, crowded into rooms together without the ability to even go outside. This is what happens when President Biden ignores the experts and cavalierly rescinds immigration policies that were working - he creates a humanitarian crisis at our border. We strongly urge the Biden Administration to reinstate effective policies, including the Migrant Protection Protocols with Mexico as well as the Asylum Cooperation Agreements (ACAs) with El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, as quickly as possible.'
