Mexico acknowledges the announcement of the U.S. government to include DACA recipients in the Affordable Care Act
  • Beginning on November 1, more than 100,000 migrants will be eligible for health coverage.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of Mexico, acknowledges the announcement made by President Joe Biden's Administration to expand access to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Affordable Care Act) to recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

This will make more than 100,000 Dreamers eligible for health care coverage beginning November 1.

The 530,110 DACA recipients, of which 429,170 of whom are Mexicans, have made significant contributions to the economic, social and cultural development of the United States, and they have invaluable ties with our country.

The Foreign Ministry, through Mexico's consular network in the United States, will continue to strengthen its consular assistance and protection for the Dreamers, and inform them of their rights, resources and services available for their empowerment and development.

The Mexican community in the United States is invited to visit their nearest consulate or contact the Center for Information and Assistance for Mexicans (CIAM) at (520) 623-7874 to receive official, timely and reliable information 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
