LUKOIL-Volgogradenergo LLC (a wholly owned PJSC LUKOIL subsidiary) carries out a step-by-step modernization of the Volgograd combined heat and power plant 2. The process envisages installation of modern Russia-made power generation equipment in place of the outdated units.

The power plant provides heat and electricity for LUKOIL's Volgograd refinery and other industrial consumers, as well as heat for around 30% of Volgograd residents.

Before the end of the year, LUKOIL will have the steam drum changed. The device is already manufactured, delivered to the worksite, and installed. The project features a unique technological solution: the 100 tonnes unit is being installed without shutting down the plant's turbogenerating sets.

Modernization of the Volgograd CHP plant 2 will ensure trouble-free heat supply during peak demand of the cold season.

Information

Volgograd CHP plant 2 (installed power generation capacity of 225 MW and heat generation capacity of 664 Gcal/h) provides steam for LUKOIL's Volgograd refinery, as well as heat and hot water for the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd. The plant is fuelled by natural gas, which has the lowest emission rate among fossil fuels.
