Minister Grlić Radman attends commemoration of Bosniak Day

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Tuesday attended a commemoration of the Day of Bosniaks, organized by the Council of the Bosniak National Minority of the City of Zagreb.

Addressing the event, Grlić Radman underlined that national identities largely determined our lives and that it was important for the Croatian government that national minority identities are respected and cherished.

"Today, Bosniaks in Croatia enjoy all the minority rights in line with the highest democratic standards, which also regulate the status of the Islamic community, to which the majority of Croatia's Bosniaks belong," the minister said, adding that the satisfaction of national minorities was the value of Croatian democracy.

Grlić Radman also underscored the importance of the Bosniak minority in Croatia's relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, expressing hope that, by implementing the necessary reforms, BiH would become a stable and functioning country that is progressing towards Euro-Atlantic integration.

In the context of reforms, the minister reflected on the position of BiH Croats. "In spite of their undeniable sacrifice during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croats today have trouble realizing their constitutional rights," he said, calling for Bosniak representatives in Croatia to support the government's efforts to achieve equality and non-discrimination among all three constituent peoples of BiH.
