PRESS RELEASE / Humanitas Gradenigo and BasicNet together with a new vaccination centre in Torino

The hospital's vaccination hub is moving to BasicVillage, corso Regio Parco 39, in an area covering 700 square meters which will make it possible to vaccinate up to 800 people a day. It is the first instance of collaboration between health service and private business in Torino.

Torino, 17 April 2021 - As of Tuesday 27 April Humanitas Gradenigo's Vaccination Hub will move to BasicVillage in corso Regio Parco 39, and the number of jabs administered to the population will increase. It will be possible to vaccinate approximately 800 people a day in the 700-sq-mt facility housed by BasicVillage, in BasicNet's headquarters, a post-industrial site covering over 26.000 square meters rising just one kilometer away from the hospital.

Humanitas Gradenigo's current vaccination hub was opened on 18th March and over a month it has vaccinated almost 8000 people, mostly over 80-year-olds and vulnerable patients, always using Pfizer BioNTech.

The Vaccination Hub's new location, set up with separate entrance and exit routes, will make it possible to vaccinate more people, increasing from the current 500 to a maximum of 800, inside a larger, more functional space, housed by BasicNet's headquarters, inside a large portion of the company's historical company store 'alloSpaccio'.

Corso Regio Parco 39 will become the site of the first vaccination hub in Torino resting on a collaboration between the health service and a local business. For over a century Humanitas Gradenigo has been an important hospital for the people of Torino, and over the last year it has played a significant part in the fight against Covid-19. BasicNet is a company listed on the Italian Stock Exchange, owner of clothing, footwear and accessory brands including Kappa®, Robe di Kappa®, K-Way®, Superga® and Sebago®.

The vaccination hub in corso Regio Parco 39 will be open from Monday to Friday between 10 am and 8 pm, and will rely on eight separate rooms.

Humanitas Gradenigo's Chief Medical Officer Domenico Tangolo said: «Once again our hospital is at the service of Torino and of its people, expanding anti-covid vaccination activities to reach a higher number of people. The use of Pfizer BioNTech is the added value provided by our hospital».

Humanitas Gradenigo President Fabio Marchi added: «It is a joint initiative part of a wider scenario of involvement by private companies in the world of vaccination: Humanitas and BasicNet are both dynamic organizations, rooted in reality and caring for the community. After verifying the effectiveness of our vaccination hub inside our facilities, we looked for an external partner to help us expand our capability».

In compliance to regulations, vaccinations for company resources will follow the national Protocol signed by Confindustria regarding in-company vaccinations, as soon as the hub becomes operational.

Humanitas Gradenigo CEO Giuseppe Fraizzoli concluded: «After one year of full commitment on the field and 8000 people vaccinated, our hospital moves the skills acquired and care for the popularion outside».

BasicNet President Marco Boglione added: «We felt strongly compelled to answer the call and we're grateful to Humanitas for providing us with the opportunity to do so. We set up a vaccination hub in record time, inside our most prestigious commercial spaces and supplying all the necessary resources. I truly hope our initiative will be useful not only for all the BasicNet Group's human resources and their families, but also for Torino as a whole, and especially for the Aurora area where the company has been based for over 100 years».
