NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a nationwide grassroots organization dedicated to the eradication of mental illness and the improvement in the quality of life for those affected by these diseases. NAMI's goals are to educate, support and advocate for people who are affected by mental illness. The local affiliate, National Alliance on Mental Illness York County will hold the following support groups in May:
The NAMI Family Support Groupis a monthly support group for family members, partners, and friends of individuals living with a mental illness. It meets the first Tuesday of each month at Luther Memorial Church,
1907 Hollywood Dr., York 17403from
6:30-8:00 pm. Looking at the church from the main road, park in the parking lot to the left of the church and enter through the double glass doors.
NAMI Connectionis a weekly support group for people living with a mental health diagnosis. It is offered at 2 locations on 2 different days -Monday's from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Jewish Community Center, 2000 Hollywood Dr., York, 17403 and Thursday's from 10 to 11:30 am at 140 Roosevelt Avenue, York, 17401.
Information shared at any NAMI sponsored support groups is always confidential. You do not need to be a NAMI member or be receiving services from any of the sponsoring locations to attend these meetings. No fee or pre-registration is required.
