Nick Offerman & Friends Host Comedy Event Supporting NRDC

LOS ANGELES - Last night, Nick Offerman hosted a charity comedy show as part of Netflix's second annual "Netflix is a Joke Fest" to support NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), a leading international environmental nonprofit organization.

The show at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre featured performances by Steve Agee, Nicole Byer, Mae Martin, Kumail Nanjiani, Nick Offerman, Atsuko Okatsuka, Pattie Gonia and Puddles Pity Party in support of NRDC's work to confront the climate crisis, protect public health and safeguard nature.

During his opening remarks, Offerman said, "I'm a huge fan and supporter of this organization...Just think about, if you don't already, who makes your food, where does it come from, who grows it, and how are they treating you and your health. That's my in to natural resources and how we're treating our planet sustainably.

"This is a comedy show, so that's the end of that part."

Netflix is a Joke Fest is the biggest comedy festival in North America, produced by Netflix in association with Live Nation, and featuring over 500 live stand-up shows, special events, table reads, sketches and more over the course of the festival, which runs May 1 to May 12, 2024.  

Nick Offerman is an actor, author, humorist and woodworker whose credits include the Emmy award-winning role of Bill in The Last of Us(HBO), Ron Swanson on NBC's Parks & Recreation, Forest in Devs, and Karl Weathers in the FX series Fargo.  He has written five New York Times Bestselling books, including his latest, Where the Deer and the Antelope Play(Penguin Random House), Paddle Your Own Canoe, Gumption, Good Clean Fun, and The Greatest Love Story Ever Told, written with his wife, Megan Mullally. Recent and upcoming projects include Civil War(written and directed by Alex Garland), Origin(written and directed by Ava DuVernay), The Umbrella Academy(Netflix), Dumb Money, Candy Cane Lane(Amazon), The Resort(Peacock), Pam & Tommy(Hulu), A League of Their Own (Amazon), and NBC's Making It(co-host and executive producer). He is the voice of Beef Tobin in the FOX animated series The Great Northand audiobook narrator for Wendell Berry's latest, The Need to Be Whole. In his spare time, he can be found at his woodshop in Los Angeles building hand-crafted items from wood, ranging from spoons and canoes to ukuleles.
