BART Board night meeting on 5/26/22 to discuss budget & TOD at Ashby and North Berkeley

The BART Board of Directors will hold its next meeting on May 26th at night to encourage greater public participation as the board continues discussing BART's next budget.

The May 26th meeting will start at 5pm and will be live streamed on BART.gov. The BART Board has been meeting virtually throughout the pandemic with public comment available via Zoom and phone during the meeting, or email in advance.

Planned agenda items include:

  • BART budget: The Board will get an overview of the Fiscal Years '23 and '24 budget including a discussion of a planned, less-than inflation-based fare increase of 3.4% to take effect July 1, 2022, to help keep up with the cost of providing safe and reliable service. This meeting is considered the official "public hearing" on the budget as the board works towards adopting the budget on June 9, 2022. The proposed budget supports planned service improvements in September 2022 and February 2023 and continues BART's innovative Progressive Policing unit, and additional staffing for car and station cleaning.
  • An informational update on our efforts to bring Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) to Ashby and North Berkeley stations. This item will be discussed early in the meeting.
  • Quarterly Service Performance Review.

Public comment is held at the beginning and end of the board meeting and the public has an opportunity to speak on each agenda item at the time it is presented. Written comments can be submitted via email to [email protected], using "public comment" as the subject line.

We will post the agenda and zoom links here on Friday, May 20, 2022, when they become available.
