Orange Digital Center: committed to digital equality

Our network of Orange Digital Centers reflects our commitment to making digital innovation and support more accessible to everyone. Opening across the African continent, these free digital resources provide training, acceleration and funding for the local digital ecosystem. Let's find out more.

Making digital an opportunity for everyone

Orange Digital Centers serve as support and development centres for young people to gain vital digital and entrepreneurial skills. From coding training to small business coaching, they cover a wide range of activities.

Free and open to all, the facilities promote learning based on concrete projects. Training courses in digital technology are available for students, job seekers and young people with or without qualifications. The aim is to help them find a worthwhile career and foster entrepreneurship.

As a true network of opportunities, Orange Digital Centers bring together several strategic programmes into one place

  • A Code School, which acts as a centre for vocational training and events such as the Sonatel Academy in Senegal or the code school in Cameroon,
  • A Solidarity FabLab, a digital manufacturing workshop that enables people to prototype and learn by 'Doing',
  • An Orange Fab, a start-up accelerator that forges national and international business partnerships with one or more Group entities such as the Orange Fab Tunisia or Orange Fab Cameroon,
  • Orange Ventures, an investment fund focused on financing the most innovative start-ups.

An initiative dedicated to Africa and the Middle East

Orange Digital Centers work closely with all stakeholders including governments (National Ministries of Education and Higher Education) and academia, strengthening young people's employability and encouraging innovation. In Tunis, 27 partner universities participate in the scheme along with five other hubs throughout the region, to help as many people as possible make the most of digital technology.

The Digital Center concept will be rolled out across all of our operating countries in Africa and the Middle East. Following Tunisia, Senegal and Cameroon, Jordan will open a similar facility, followed by Morocco, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt and Guinea in 2020. Working as a network, these hubs promote the exchange of experiences and expertise on a large scale.

How Orange Tunisia commits to supporting young people

16,000 young Tunisians have already been trained and supported in digital and 1,800 have benefited from professional conversion courses. What's more, 800 middle and high school students have been introduced to coding, and 95% of them have already found jobs in Tunisia and abroad.
