The Runway Production "Living Loud," created and produced by 22 students enrolled in Louisiana Tech's School of Human Ecology, Fashion Merchandising and Retail Studies Class, will be Thursday, May 2, at 6:30 p.m. on the third floor of the Davison Athletics Complex.

Doors open at 6 p.m.; for overflow, there will be live streaming on the DAC Patio.

For the event, all students in the class designed and repurposed silhouettes to put their own creative spin on "avant-garde street fashion."

The evening will also promote the many local merchants in the Ruston community who'll be represented. A special Louisiana Tech section in the show will feature "over-the-top" Tech fashions created and styled by the students. This section will include notable guests such as Tech XXII and Champ.

"The show also represents the support and heart-felt love from our Tech Family," class instructor Penny Humphries said. "We expect more than 400 attendees including Tech's President, Dr. Jim Henderson, and First Lady, Tonia, as well as other University administrators, Tech alumni, faculty, students, parents, and Ruston's leaders in the fashion industry."

As students planned the show, they had the opportunity to experience the first-hand success of collaborating with other programs on Tech's campus. The "After Party" in the south end zone will feature members of Tech's Diggin Doggs Jazz Band, directed by Dr. Wade Dillingham. The students also had the opportunity to work with Tech's chef, Karen Bennett, to plan the menus for the VIP Tables and the "After Party" deserts.

"I am proud of the creative, talented, and resourceful students in this class-they continue to amaze me," Humphries said. "On May 2, our guests will experience a fun and entertaining event. This type of production could not succeed without the support of our program director, Dr. Amy Yates, and Dr. Gay Kennedy, dean of the College of Applied and Natural Sciences."

VIP Tables for eight are available at $250; call 318.257.3727 for reservations. General admission is $5 at the door.
