WASHINGTON - The Senate today passed on a bipartisan vote H.R. 7691, a supplemental funding bill to provide more than $40 billion in emergency funding to support the Ukrainian people and defend global democracy in the wake of Russia's unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

"In March, Congress came together to support the Ukrainian people. Last week, the House passed bipartisan legislation that held up our moral responsibility to deliver support for Ukraine, hold Putin accountable, and protect global democracy," Chair DeLauro said. "It is a shame that one Senator caused a delay in delivering this critical support. I am proud to have led the passage of this bill and look forward to President Biden signing it into law swiftly. Together, we are providing critical funding to end this senseless violence and help the Ukrainian people defend themselves and their democracy.""While I am relieved that we have successfully provided Ukraine with these emergency resources, I am disappointed that Republicans continue to create roadblocks to prevent the passage of additional domestic and global COVID relief," DeLauro continued. "The longer we delay in providing the funding to purchase necessary vaccines, therapeutics, tests, and other resources to continue combatting the virus, the less prepared we are to protect Americans and ultimately save lives."

The Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2022, provides critical funding to help Ukraine defend itself and protect its democracy, hold Russian leaders accountable, address rapidly growing food insecurity globally because of the conflict in Ukraine, and provide critical refugee support services.
