CFP Board Statement on Empowering States to Protect Seniors Against Bad Actors Act

This week, Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Rep. Zach Nunn (R-IA) and Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) introduced the bipartisan, bicameral Empowering States to Protect Seniors Against Bad Actors Act. The following is a statement from Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) in support of this important legislation:

"CFP Board stands firmly behind the Empowering States to Protect Seniors from Bad Actors Act as a crucial step in safeguarding our seniors from financial exploitation. America's more than 100,000 CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professionals are often among the first to notice the signs of possible financial abuse of vulnerable clients. CFP Board encourages Congress to pass this legislation to protect the financial security and well-being of our seniors."
