Public Safety Update – Highland Park Shooting

We are all incredibly saddened by today's horrific shooting in Highland Park. There have been no related incidents in Wilmette and there is no known direct threat to the community at this time. However, the shooter is still at large and citizens are encouraged to take safety precautions. The police are reminding residents to stay vigilant and call 9-1-1 if you see anything suspicious.

Following the shooting that took place at the Highland Park parade earlier today, the Wilmette Park District has closed its facilities and there is an increased police presence in our downtown. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution as part of a coordinated safety response by the Village, the Police Department, and Park District.
