NPPD and NPFR donate gear to Ukraine

Working together toward a common goal - helping those who need it most. North Port Fire Rescue and North Port Police Department are partnering with a non-profit organization to donate gear to first responders in Ukraine.

NPFR is donating 33 pairs of bunker pants, 35 bunker coats, and 34 pairs of boots. The national standard is 10 years of use, and North Port Fire Rescue follows that guideline. Though this gear is beyond that timeframe, it is still very much usable and durable. NPPD is donating 8 ballistic vests and 4 bulletproof helmets, which are also past their time of use. Members of the non-profit group We Restore Ukraine are taking the gear to the country themselves. The group's mission is to make a difference in Ukraine, and they've been doing humanitarian and missionary work there for the past 10 years.

The group is continuing to accept donations to help overseas. Non-perishable food items, clothing, and basic necessities and toiletries are accepted. You can bring them to First Slavic Pentecostal Church, 5848 Tropicaire Blvd. If no one is there, leave the donations under the awning.
