Savills UK business commits to achieving net zero carbon by 2030

The firm will work towards zero net energy consumption, achieving an overall balance between emissions produced and emissions taken out of the atmosphere, building on the positive foundation of its progress to date.

Savills UK has aligned its targets with nine of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, which act as a blueprint to achieve a more sustainable future. These fit closely with the wider Savills UK business strategy, falling under its existing pillars:

  • Growth: Maintaining a positive impact within the communities that Savills serve, inspiring sustainable behaviours across the value chain of its operations
  • Clients: Combine all Savills expertise in ESG related disciplines into one team as part of a new 'Energy and Sustainability Hub'
  • People: Ensuring healthy workplaces, developing talent and promoting diversity and inclusion within real estate
  • Disruption: Achieving net zero by 2030 and influencing stakeholders to work towards carbon neutrality
  • Finance: Understanding the social impact of the business and the financial consequences associated with climate risk

Lizzie Jones, director in the sustainability team at Savills UK, comments: 'Savills UK is fully committed to reaching its target of net zero carbon by 2030 and has a number of key initiatives in place to drive this strategy forward over the coming years. As a business we are keen to ensure that we play a crucial role in tackling, rather than contributing to this global issue.'

James Sparrow, CEO of UK & EMEA at Savills, adds: 'As a sector we have a huge responsibility to ensure that we act in a sustainable way that safeguards the future for generations to come. This is massively important both to us as a business and to our clients. Committing to achieving net zero by 2030 is an essential part of Savills UK strategy.'
