UPDATE: With the current stay at home order, the Bakersfield PAL Center is closed. At this time, we ask that parents hold onto applications for now, and when the order is lifted, we will plan and announce several Junior Police Academy sign-up days. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
ORIGINAL POSTING: The Bakersfield Police Department, partnered with the Bakersfield Police Activities League (BPAL), will be hosting several summer Junior Police Academy sessions for kids aged 11-17 years.
The mission of this Academy is to provide the recruits with a foundation of Law Enforcement, while enhancing their social skills to become more productive students and members of our community. The academy's focus will be Leadership, Accountability, and Problem Solving.
The academy's objective is to have a four (4) week session of education and fun through a Police Academy format. The curriculum will include various presentations from guests of law enforcement agencies, hands-on practices and physical training to give the recruits an idea of what is involved in becoming a Police Officer.
The academy will provide snacks and water to the recruits. Each recruit is responsible for their lunch and transportation to and from the Academy.
Applications can be picked up at the BPAL facility at 301 E. 4th Street, Bakersfield, CA 93307 or downloaded at www.bakersfieldpal.org. All applications must be received by Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Bakersfield Police Activities League office.
