Richmond National Battlefield Park to Commemorate Battle of Drewry’s Bluff

RICHMOND, Va.- On Saturday, May 21, the public is invited to Drewry's Bluff, site of the Union Navy's only attempt to capture Richmond by water, to learn about the area's Civil War naval history. The event runs from 10 am to 4 pm and is free of charge.

This year's event will feature a historian from the Naval History and Heritage Command who will be on site to talk about the battle. A uniform display, featuring US Navy and US Marine Corps uniforms from the Civil War, will also be featured. Guided tours of the fort at 11 am and 2 pm will highlight the naval battle that tested Richmond's defenses on May 15, 1862. Additionally, in honor of Kids to Parks Day, children can fill out a special Junior Ranger booklet and earn a free badge!
