Duro Felguera successfully completes Fluxys project in Belgium

The scope of the work consisted of the manufacturing of a 180,000 m³ cryogenic tank for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) at the facility of new compressors for the recovery of evaporated gas, and all the auxiliary facilities required around it

The load test with an LNG ship from the tank reached a loading volume of over 12,500 m³ per hour, which shows the excellent performance of the new facilities

Monday, 13 January 2020. Duro Felguera, via its Oil & Gas business division and together with its partner Balzola, has successfully completed the project for the Belgian company Fluxys at the port of Zeebrugge (Belgium).

This turnkey project was awarded to the consortium in 2015 and the scope involved the manufacturing of a 180,000 m³ cryogenic tank for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) at the facility of new compressors for the recovery of evaporated gas, and all the auxiliary facilities required around it.

The commissioning tests at the terminal were carried out in December and this was followed by a load test with an LNG ship from the tank. This test was the last one to be carried out on the tank; a ship loading volume of 12,500 m³/h was attained, thus showing the excellent performance of the new facilities.

The project falls within the 20-year contract between Fluxys LNG and Yamal LNG under which up to eight million tons of LNG can be transferred per year. Furthermore, the new plant will be a link for the worldwide distribution of LNG from the production plant in Yamal, Siberia.
