Seismic services specialist Spectrum Geo has this week commenced acquisition of their latest offshore Multi-Client seismic survey, located in the Turkish Black Sea. This new 7,000 km campaign, carried out in partnership with BGP, is focused on an area identified by Spectrum's team of Geoscientists as one of significant interest in terms of hydrocarbon prospectivity.
Jevon Hilder, Spectrum's Vice President for Mediterranean and Middle East, commented, 'Our studies have identified significant potential for hydrocarbons in the eastern Black Sea. These new data will provide explorers with a better insight into the presence and location of those essential ingredients required to promote exploration of hydrocarbons in the Black Sea.'
Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources minister Berat Albayrak added that Turkey will explore every inch of its seas. 'Turkey will be the start of the new era in relation to energy and drilling activities', he announced.
Acquisition is expected to take 3 months to complete with final Pre-Stack Time Migration (PSTM) products available in Q1 2019.
This latest program represents the latest of a string of exciting new seismic acquisition campaigns for Spectrum. It follows successful surveys in Argentina, Gabon, Brazil and Mozambique, making 2018 the most prolific for the company, to date.
