COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- For the fifth consecutive season, CBS Sports Network will once again serve as the premier national television partner of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) with the network set to televise 14 NCHC games throughout the 2017-18 campaign.
All eight NCHC teams will host at least one nationally televised contest on CBS Sports Network during the upcoming season. In addition, CBS Sports Network will also once again air both semifinals and the championship game of the 2018 NCHC Frozen Faceoff live from Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn., the new home of the conference's championship weekend. Defending NCAA national champion and NCHC regular-season champion Denver will be featured a conference-most five times on CBS Sports Network throughout the regular season.
CBS Sports Network's coverage of the NCHC begins during the second half of the season, as NCHC teams battle it out for the Penrose Cup. Ten of the 11 televised regular-season games will take place on Fridays, with one Saturday non-conference contest to be featured, as well. CBS Sports Network will also showcase the NCHC in a pair of doubleheader telecasts during the regular season, in addition to the Frozen Faceoff semifinals.
The 2017-18 CBS Sports Network schedule gets underway with a pair of games the first weekend in January, opening at Ralph Engelstad Arena with Omaha at North Dakota on Friday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The following night, St. Cloud State hosts in-state rival and Big Ten foe Minnesota at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in the lone Saturday and lone non-conference game on CBS Sports Network this season.
Two weeks later, CBS Sports Network will air an NCHC doubleheader on Friday, Jan. 19 as Colorado College travels to Western Michigan, while Minnesota Duluth welcomes North Dakota in the nightcap. The doubleheader begins at 6:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. CT.
On Friday, Jan. 26, CBS Sports Network returns to Grand Forks for a showdown between the last two NCAA national champions as North Dakota entertains rival Denver. The following Friday, Minnesota Duluth heads west for a meeting with the Pioneers in a rematch of last season's NCAA National Championship Game.
The second NCHC regular-season doubleheader on CBS Sports Network is set for Friday, Feb. 16 as North Dakota makes the return trip to Omaha to start the night, while the Battle for the Gold Pan caps the broadcast as Denver makes the short trek down I-25 to square off with rival Colorado College at Broadmoor World Arena. The doubleheader gets underway at 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT.
The NCHC on CBS Sports Network regular-season schedule closes on Friday, March 2, which is the final weekend of the regular season, as Miami heads to Magness Arena to tangle with Denver.
As in seasons past, CBS Sports Network will then televise the crowning of the NCHC Tournament champion at the NCHC Frozen Faceoff, airing both semifinals and the championship game live from Xcel Energy Center. The two semifinals will take place on Friday, March 16 with the first semifinal set for 5 p.m. ET (4 p.m. local) and the second slated for 8:30 p.m. ET. The championship game will then take place the next day, Saturday, March 17, with the broadcast also starting at 8:30 p.m. ET.
