Secretary to Parliament Looking into Alleged Awarding of Contract to Afrocentric Markets

Parliament, Tuesday, 06 September 2022 - The Secretary to Parliament, Mr Xolile George, has noted with concern the reports in the media regarding the alleged appointment of a company belonging to the former Secretary to Parliament, Mr Gengezi Mgidlana, called Afrocentric Markets, to provide benchmarking research for the South African legislative sector.

The Secretary to Parliament is looking into the matter to establish the circumstances surrounding the purported contract.

Parliament's commitment to good corporate governance and accountability remains sacrosanct, and should any wrongdoing be found, appropriate remedial actions will be undertaken.
