MOFA Spokesperson’s Statement on Additional Two-month Extension of Truce in Yemen

1. The Korean government welcomes the additional two-month extension of truce in Yemen brokered by the UN on August 2 and appreciates the efforts of UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg as well as countries concerned in enabling the extension, including Saudi Arabia and Oman.

2. The Korean government hopes that the parties to the conflict will reach an expanded truce agreement for peace in Yemen through negotiations under the auspices of the UN, while fully implementing their obligations under the existing truce agreement.
