Media Queries related to incident that took place at Westlite Jalan Tukang Dormitory

Singapore, 14 October 2021 - Sembcorp Marine Ltd (the "Company") would like to respond to media reports of an incident that took place at Westlite Jalan Tukang Dormitory ("Tukang Dorm") on 13 October 2021.

Management of COVID-positive Cases at Third-party Dormitory

The Company has been monitoring the increase in the number of COVID-positive cases at the Tukang Dorm for the past one week and has been engaging the dormitory operator, Westlite Accommodation ("Westlite") to address our workers' concerns including the measures to isolate COVID-positive cases within the dormitory and the medical care rendered.

The Company understands that Westlite is following the mandatory COVID-19 health testing and movement protocols and they have been working closely with the relevant authorities.

According to the current protocols, workers who test positive from ART (Antigen Rapid Test) are isolated from other residents in the Dormitory Recovery Facility (DRF) or moved out by the authorities to external Centralised Recovery Facilities (CRF). Unvaccinated or symptomatic cases are required to undergo confirmatory PCR tests and are isolated in a Dormitory Isolation Facility (DIF), pending PCR test results. If PCR-positive, the worker is conveyed to an external Community Care Facility (CCF) by the medical authorities.

The Company is mindful that the current protocols in Singapore may not be apparent to the residents in the Tukang Dorm, and may differ from COVID-19 management measures from their home country. In this regard, the Company, jointly with ACE (the Assurance, Care, and Engagement Group, a division under the Ministry of Manpower) and Westlite have been on the ground providing clarifications and assurance to the residents on such measures.

In our interactions with our migrant workers, the Company has received their concerns and continue to provide feedback to the operator of the dormitory and ACE to address these concerns.

The medical support facilities on-site at the dormitory has been augmented by a mobile medical team to address health concerns of the residents and the increase in the number of close contacts. The Company continues to work closely with Westlite and ACE to ensure COVID-positive workers are conveyed expeditiously to the appropriate facilities for their recovery.

At the same time, the Company has taken note of the feedback on the hygiene and quality of food served and has issued reminders to the caterer on strict adherence to hygiene standards. The Company is cognizant of the diverse food preferences of migrant workers from different cultures and has been working closely with the caterer to continuously cater to the differing needs of the individuals.

The Company appreciates the close cooperation and support from ACE and Westlite to address the ongoing COVID-19 testing protocols and management measures and the overall enhancement of living conditions.

The safety and wellbeing of our workers are our foremost concern. The Company has taken measures to protect their health and safety, and will continue to do so. The Company will work closely with all its service providers and with the authorities at all times to ensure that all required COVID-19 management measures are in place and the safety and general welfare of our workers are assured.
