Ambassador of Nepal to Thailand pays a courtesy call on Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs

On 28 March 2024 at the MFA, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, welcomed H.E. Mr. Dhan Bahadur Oli, Ambassador of Nepal to Thailand, who paid a courtesy call on the occasion of the assumption of duty.

Both sides agreed to steer forward cooperation on issues of mutual interest, particularly agricultural research, technical cooperation, and tourism, and aim to hold commemorative activities and achieve concrete deliverables to strengthen bilateral ties on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Nepal this year. The Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs also congratulated Nepal on the economic progress which would contribute to Nepal's graduation from the least developed countries in 2026.

Furthermore, both sides exchanged views on the importance of green transition and Nepal's potential for hydropower. They also discussed cooperation under the framework of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) of which Thailand, as the current Chair, looks forward to the Prime Minister of Nepal's participation at the 6th BIMSTEC Summit to be held in Thailand later this year.
