St. Louis County Police Deputy Chief Taking New Post in St. Charles County Government

St. Louis County Police Deputy Chief Bryan Ludwig has been chosen to serve as Assistant Director of Administration for St. Charles County.

Ludwig and his wife have lived in St. Charles County for almost 30 years, raising their family here.

The 54-year-old Ludwig has served voluntarily on the County's Merit Commission and on committees to recommend a St. Charles County police chief.

"He's the ultimate in integrity and professionalism," says County Executive Steve Ehlmann, who appointed Ludwig. "He's a proven leader and he knows administration."

During the last 19 years of his nearly 29-year career, Ludwig has been responsible at some point for overseeing virtually every aspect of the 1300 employees of the St. Louis County Police Department, including the Contract Services Unit, the Bureau of Professional Standards, the Bureau of Research and Analysis, the Division of Special Operations, the North County Precinct, the Bureau of Crimes Against Property, the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy, the Bureau of Drug Enforcement, and the Municipal Services Unit.

He also supervised the commanding officers of the Divisions of Patrol, Criminal Investigation, Special Operations, Operational Support, and Human Resources.

Ludwig is the recipient of the Medal of Valor from the Crusade Against Crime. He received his bachelor's degree in justice systems from Truman State University, and graduated from the FBI National Academy and the Senior Management Institute for Police Strategic Management Program.

He begins his duties as Assistant Director of Administration with the County Executive's office on June 11, 2024.

Ludwig replaces Assistant Director of Administration Bob Schnur, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
