Kara Stromberg Receives Keystone Award From Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

Kara Stromberg, MS, RD, LDN, CDCES, Director of Clinical Nutrition and Nutrition Research at Fox Chase and Temple University Hospital - Jeanes Campus, was recently recognized by the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as a Keystone Award winner at the organization's annual meeting last month. Stromberg and colleagues Dylan Sherry, MD, and Jaylin Kellogg, MS, RD, LDN, CNSC, also presented a session at the meeting, "When Should Nutrition Stop? The Role of the Dietitian at the End of Life.

PHILADELPHIA (May 10, 2024) - Kara Stromberg, MS, RD, LDN, CDCES, Director of Clinical Nutrition and Nutrition Research at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University Hospital -Jeanes Campus, was recently recognized by the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as a Keystone Award winner.

"I felt honored just to be nominated for an award of this magnitude, but to win has been incredibly special to me," said Stromberg.

The Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has nearly 4,000 members across the state. Its mission is to serve the public by promoting nutrition, health, and well-being.

The Keystone Awards are one of the academy's top honors. They recognize up to two academy members who have demonstrated outstanding professional standards that help to advance the organization's mission. This includes being involved in the academy with a focus on advancing the status of the profession, demonstrating leadership in exceptional ways, leading efforts to improve the lives of patients, being published or producing original work, and being recognized by colleagues or other organizations.

"Elevating the role of the dietitian is a passion of mine, and I have spent over a decade working to highlight our work in clinical and community settings, as well as advocating on behalf of dietitians on state and federal initiatives. This award recognizes that work, and for that I am incredibly humbled and grateful," said Stromberg.

Stromberg is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. After earning her bachelor's degree in dietetics at the University of Delaware, she completed her master's in clinical nutrition and dietetic internship at New York University.

Stromberg directs a team of registered dietitians at Fox Chase and Jeanes Campus. She oversees all inpatient and ambulatory nutrition areas on campus, as well as nutrition-related research efforts and quality improvement programming. Registered dietitians at Fox Chase offer individual counseling, nutrition support, medical nutrition therapy, education, and meal-planning tips to patients.

In addition to receiving her award, Stromberg and colleagues Jaylin Kellogg, MS, RD, LDN, CNSC, and Dylan Sherry, MD, presented a session titled "When Should Nutrition Stop? The Role of the Dietitian at the End of Life" at this year's academy meeting, which took place April 14-16 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
