City of Tampa Shines Blue for National Police Week

When: May 11-May 16
Time: Sunset
Where: Old City Hall, Tampa Riverwalk & Downtown Bridges

The City of Tampa, including Old City Hall, the Tampa Riverwalk and Downtown bridges, will light up in blue for National Police Week, which runs May 11-17.

National Police Week is a collaborative effort of many organizations dedicated to honoring America's law enforcement community. This offers honor, remembrance and peer support, while allowing law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

"I am so grateful to the Tampa Police Department, and incredibly proud of the strong partnerships they've fostered within the community," Mayor Jane Castor said. "When our officers are out in neighborhoods and building relationships, that leads to lower crime rates and a great feeling of safety and security. Young people also see a positive image of police. I hope this week everyone can take the time to thank a law enforcement officer for the work they do, putting their lives on the line each and every day."
