Cortez Masto Cosponsors Resolution to Secure Placement for Gold Star Families in Senate Offices

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) joined Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) in cosponsoring a resolution to create a 12-month fellowship for Gold Star Families to serve in U.S. Senate offices.

'I'm proud to support a resolution that illustrates our nation's gratitude to service members and their families. I value the experience and perspective that Gold Star families can bring to Congress. I'll continue to fight for critical resources and opportunities for Gold Star Families in Nevada and throughout the country so that we honor their commitment and sacrifice to our country.'

Peters (D-Mich.), Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Jon Tester (D-Mont.), Martha McSally (R-Ariz.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Christopher A. Coons (D-Del.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Dianne Feinstein (D-Cali.), Mike Braun (R-Ind.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Angus S. King Jr. (I-Maine) and Doug Jones (D-Ala.) also cosponsored this resolution.

BACKGROUND:

This resolution establishes the Congressional Gold Star Family Fellowship Program for the placement in U.S. Senate offices of children, spouses and siblings of members of the Armed Forces who died in the line of duty or who have died from a training-related injury.
