SL Navy’s “Ranarisi” brings ashore sick fisherman

A fisherman who had fallen sick while at sea was brought ashore for treatment by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) last evening (15 May). According to SLN media, the fisherman on board the local multiday fishing trawler 'Sindur 04' was at sea off the eastern coast when he had suddenly fallen ill and was in need of medical attention.

SL Navy had dispatched the Fast Gun Boat 'SLNS Ranarisi' from its Eastern Naval Command to bring ashore the sick fisherman upon being informed of the emergency by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

After taking aboard the patient at seas about 18 nautical miles (about 33 km) off Valaichchenai, Batticaloa the Navy vessel had returned ashore where a smaller SL Coast Guard boat was used to transfer him to the Valaichchenai fisheries harbor. Later the patient was taken to the local base hospital for treatment, it says.
