NOPD Quickly Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Ronell Reeder (black male, DOB: 05-20-2002) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred during the early hours today (April 18, 2024) in the 4000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and claimed the life of two adult males.

At about 4:20 a.m., NOPD Second and Sixth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male gunshot wound victims. Both victims were declared deceased on scene.

While investigating at the scene, detectives learned that an adult male subject had arrived at the NOPD Second District station to surrender in connection with this incident. The subject, later identified as Reeder, was taken into custody for questioning at that time.

Through further investigation, detectives determined Reeder to be the perpetrator in this incident. Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Reeder on two counts of second-degree murder. Reeder was subsequently arrested and will be booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on two counts of second-degree murder.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will identify the victims and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family. No further information is currently available.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
