Letters of Interest for Assembly Appointment due by August 21, 2022

Hand-deliver, mail, fax, or email a letter of interest (there is no application form). Letters must be received in the Borough Clerk's Office no later than August 21, 2022.

The appointee will serve only until the certification of the next regular borough election (October 25, 2022) but is free to run for election, if desired.

The vacancy was effective August 9, 2022, and HBC 2.10.250(A) requires the assembly to appoint a qualified person within 30 days.

At the August 23, 2022 Assembly meeting, the assembly will interview the applicants and then make an appointment at that meeting. The new Assembly Member will be immediately sworn and seated at the dais for the remainder of the meeting.

For the purposes of this section, an individual qualifies as a resident of the borough if the individual continues to maintain the individual's principal place of residence within the corporate boundaries of the borough or of territory annexed to the borough, as more defined in [HBC 11.24.010], and has done so for at least one year immediately preceding the date for filing nominating petitions for election to the assembly or the date of appointment to the assembly.
