David Weekley Homes Collects Thousands of Meals, Donations During Annual Food Drive

Houston, TX (December 6, 2021): Nearly 311,000 people nationwide received a hearty Thanksgiving meal, thanks to the partnership of David Weekley Homes and 17 charities across the U.S. Throughout November, the company hosted its seventh annual companywide Thanksgiving Drive, collecting approximately 93,000 pounds of food and more than $110,000 for 17 local nonprofit organizations around the country with help from homeowners, real estate agents, vendors, trade partners and team members.

"It was really moving to see the donation box at our San Antonio division office begin to overflow," said Lacey Beer, marketing coordinator with David Weekley Homes in San Antonio. "Each day, community partners, vendors, homeowners and team members dropped by with bags full of food to support SAMMinistries. I feel so blessed to be a part of this team and the San Antonio community. Together, we are truly making an impact."

Companywide, more than 1,000 team members participated in the drive to help families in need. In addition, The David Weekley Family Foundation donated more than $115,000 to local organizations.

For the sixth year in a row, the Tampa team partnered with Feeding Tampa Bay, an organization dedicated to fighting hunger by providing food to nearly one million food insecure families in West Central Florida. Donations provided over 90,000 meals, including 5,100 pounds of frozen turkeys and hams for those in need.

"We certainly appreciate everything that David Weekley Homes does for Feeding Tampa Bay throughout the year and especially throughout the holidays," said Jason Prado, development officer for Feeding Tampa Bay. "Because of their support, many families across Tampa Bay will have food on their tables to create holiday memories with those they love."

The team in Houston donated more than 36,000 meals to the Houston Food Bank. The David Weekley Family Foundation also contributed $24,000 for them to purchase a new zipper door and two manual loading jacks.

In Charlotte, team members invested 225 volunteer hours to support Second Harvest Food Bank and collected more than $10,000 in monetary donations in addition to turkeys and non-perishable foods.

"Thanks to David Weekley Homes hosting a food drive for our neighbors in need, they were able to donate nearly 80,000 total pounds of food," said Celia Farmer, food drive coordinator for Second Harvest Food Bank. "It was all due to forethought, kindness and spirit of giving from their team. We truly could not do what we do without their support."

The annual drive is an initiative of the company's CARE program, which allows the extended David Weekley Homes family to live out its purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. Over the past 20 years, more than $250 million has been donated to worthy causes around the world through company earnings and The David Weekley Family Foundation. In addition, team members have volunteered countless hours with various organizations across the country.
