SAN ANTONIO (June 11, 2021) -The City Council has unanimously approved $214,113.00 for flood mitigation and Hike and Bike trail improvements along Culebra Creek in District 6.
The funds for construction and project management will be added to the Upper Leon Creek RSWF - Culebra Creek project.
'Homeowner safety and hike and bike trails are important community assets. I want to thank the city and the Great Northwest Homeowners Association for working together to provide this flood mitigation, which will increase D6 homeowner safety and make our hike and bike trails safer as well,' Councilwoman Cabello Havrda said. 'I'm happy to see erosion control in this item because it is a growing concern along the creek banks in public and private properties.'
Brian Stives, Chairman of the Great Northwest Homeowners Association, said the project funds are vital for homeowner security.
'As the chairman, I know the importance of strong infrastructure and its ability to maintain, grow and safeguard the community,' he said. 'Investing in the Culebra Creek greenway will not only enhance connectivity among our seven subdivisions and the surrounding area, it will also improve drainage conditions that currently imperil residents that live above that creek.'
