Luz to make Davis Cup debut for Brazil in Lebanon

Former junior world No. 1 Orlando Luz will make his Davis Cup by Rakuten debut when Brazil take on Lebanon in their World Group I clash in Jounieh on Saturday.

The now-23-year-old reached heady heights in junior tennis, topping the boys' rankings in 2015 in a junior career headlined by two medals at the Youth Olympic Games and the doubles title at the Junior Championships, Wimbledon.

Now a Top 100 player in doubles, Luz will test himself in country colours for the first time in men's tennis when he takes on world No. 410 Benjamin Hassan - ranked 122 spots beneath him in singles - in the opening match of the tie.

Felipe Meligeni Rodrigues Alves, also aged 23, follows in the second match for the visiting side, with the world No. 194 set for a clash against Hady Habib.

Though world No. 754 Habib also owns a much lower ranking than his opponent, both of Lebanon's singles players have impressive records for their country in Davis Cup.

Hassan has won eight of his nine singles matches in country colours, while Habib has a 15-3 win-loss record in singles matches in the competition.

Habib and Hasan Ibrahim are set to combine in the doubles match to start day two on Sunday, with Brazil due to field strong duo Marcelo Demoliner and Rafael Matos - the world doubles No. 53 and 73, respectively.
