01-13-18 - PennDOT - Westbound I-376 Closed at Grant Street; Alternate Routes to Heinz Field in the City of Pittsburgh

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 13, 2018

Alternate Routes to Heinz Field in the City of Pittsburgh

Westbound I-376 Closed at Grant Street

Pittsburgh, PA - PennDOT District 11 is advising motorists traveling to Heinz Field for the Pittsburgh Steeler playoff game Sunday that the "bathtub" area of westbound (inbound) I-376 (Parkway East) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, is currently closed due to flooding.

Motorists should plan on alternate routes in the event that I-376 remains closed prior to game time. PennDOT is monitoring river levels and crews are staged to begin the process of pumping water and clean-up of the bathtub area when the river recedes.

The posted detour takes motorists off at the Grant Street (Exit 71A) off-ramp, to Fort Pitt Boulevard back to westbound I-376. However, this detour does not provide access to the Fort Duquesne Bridge.

Fans attending the game from the east of Pittsburgh should allow extra time to get to the stadium and consider these alternate routes:

Westbound I-376 to Grant Street

  • End route

  • Follow signs to Heinz Field

  • End route

Westbound I-376 to Route 380 via Wilkinsburg

  • From westbound I-376, traffic will take the Wilkinsburg (Exit 78B) off-ramp

  • Follow northbound Route 8 to westbound Route 380

  • From Route 380 take the exit to 6th Avenue into downtown Pittsburgh

  • Follow signs to Heinz Field

  • End route

Westbound I-376 to Route 28 via Wilkinsburg
