Boil Advisory Lifted for Three East Ames Facilities

The Ames Water & Pollution Control Department has lifted the "Boil Water Alert" for three east Ames business. These businesses include Barilla (3311 E Lincoln Way), Eagle's Loft Early Learning Center (2715 Dayton Ave.), and ColorBiotics (1725 Dayton Ave.). Customers at these three facilities do not need to take any additional steps prior to consuming tap water.

The advisory was issued as a precaution on Thursday after a fire line break at the Barilla facility caused water pressure in the immediate area to drop. City staff completed flushing of the distribution system and bacterial sampling for the three affected businesses. The tests, which take 18 hours to complete, have indicated the water at these facilities is safe to drink and the "Boil Water Alert" is no longer needed.
