Exhibit: Vibrant Bounty: Chinese Folk Art from the Shaanxi Region- Charles H. MacNider Art Museum(Kinney-Lindstrom Gallery), 303 2 St. SE (641-421-3666). As brilliant as the petals of a lotus and as bold as a spring storm, these folk paintings and artifacts of rural China reveal a national spirit that is as charming as it is vital. By depicting scenes of labor within lavish pastoral settings, the paintings celebrate the farmers' unity amidst the immensity of nature. The artifacts in Vibrant Bounty reveal a humanity that aids us in understanding a people half a world away. Vibrant Bounty: Chinese Folk Art from the Shaanxi Region is a program of ExhibitsUSA, a national division of Mid-America Arts Alliances and The National Endowment for the Arts. Lunch & Learn - Robert E. McCoy Architectural Interpretive Center, 520 1 St. NE (641-423-1923). Chuck and Nancy Sweetman will show pictures of Frank Lloyd Wright public Usonian buildings from Missouri to Florida. The residence include the Kraus House in St. Louis, Missouri; the Bachman-Wilson House that was moved from New Jersey to Bentonville, Arkansas; and the Rosebaum House in Florence, Alabama. The presentation will also include campus buildings at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. Florida Southern has a large concentration of Wright designs, second only to Oak Park in both concentration and numbers. All of these buildings, the houses and the campus, are open to the public and offer tours on a scheduled basis. Event time: Noon-1 pm.
