HOMICIDE – JUVENILE ARRESTED

Victim:

Julian Oliveros, 16 years of age, of New Rochelle.

Due to Juvenile arrest laws in New York State, the name of the suspect is still being withheld. He was charged with Penal Law 125.25 Murder 2nd degree and Penal Law 265.03 Criminal Possession of a weapon 2nd degree.

Weapon recovered off the suspect. The weapon has no serial number and is considered a 'ghost gun.'

On Tuesday January 25th at about 3:38pm, New Rochelle Police received a call of a shooting that had just occurred on the corner of 4th Street and Washington Ave. Upon arrival Officers located a 17-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers administered First Aid and the victim was transported to a hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and succumbed to his injures.

Suspect information was immediately developed, and New Rochelle Detectives were able to locate and arrest a 16-year-old male suspect near Glen Place and Beechwood Avenue, who was found to be in possession of a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.

This is an active investigation and the charges and any potential new information or developments will be announced in a future press release.

Both the victim and the suspect are New Rochelle residents and their names are being withheld due to their ages.

The City of New Rochelle and the New Rochelle Police Department offer their sincere condolences to the family of the victim.
