Presentation to Chamber Reflects on Communities Moving Forward

Each year, the mayors of Coos Bay and North Bend provide a presentation to the members of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce at their
Wednesday Business Connection (WBC) meeting. I was honored to share the stage this past Wednesday with Mayor Jessica Engelke. The annual presentation by the mayors provides an opportunity to report on community accomplishments in the prior year and the ambitions for the new year.
I was pleased to share the infrastructure improvements (streets, sidewalks, streetlamps, etc.) undertaken in 2021, in addition to the public and private investment in new school facilities, new commercial buildings, and in single family and multi-family housing. In addition, I shared some exciting news on planned housing developments, some of which are in progress while others are in the planning or permitting stages. The presentation can be found at WBC Presentation.
I was also encouraged by Mayor Engelke's presentation on all that has been accomplished and what is planned for North Bend in the future. It only served to reinforce my belief that there is more development occurring in Oregon's Bay Area right now than at any time in recent memory, including my 43 years as a citizen of this community. While the pandemic has created adversity on many levels, it has not held us back!
