Official Visit of the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Chardalias to the USA

The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Chardaliaswill travel tomorrow, Thursday 6 October 2022, to Washington, in order to inaugurate the Hellenic Pavilion in the "AUSA 2022" (Association of the United States Army's Annual Meeting & Exposition), which is hosted from 10 to 12 October, at the Walter Ε. Washington Convenience Centre.

Furthermore, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, from Friday 7 up to Thursday 13 October, will conduct a number of bilateral and multilateral meetings, in Washington and New York, with high-ranking Officers of the Pentagon and State Department, with members of the US Congress, as well as representatives of Foundations, Associations and key Bodies of the Hellenic Diaspora.

The schedule of the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Chardalias, up to this point, has been shaped as follows:

Washington(7 - 11 October)

- Inauguration of the Hellenic Pavilion and participation in the inauguration ceremony, as well as in the scheduled events in the context of "AUSA 2022", as a representative of the Hellenic Republic.

- Meeting with:

• US Under Secretary of Defence for Policy Dr Colin H. Kahl, at the Pentagon.

• US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Cyber Policy Ms Mieke Eoyang, at the Pentagon.

• US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Mr Dereck J. Hogan, at the State Department.

• The US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark A. Milley, at the Pentagon.

• The Commanding General of the United States Army Forces Command General Andrew Peter Poppasof Greek ancestry.

• The Ambassador of Greece in the USA Ms Alexandra Papadopoulou.

• The President of the American Hellenic Institute(AHI) Mr Nick Lariggakis.

• Members of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce.

• Members of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association(AHEPA).

• The Hellenic Diplomatic and Military Delegation.

- He will give an address at the event for the promotion of innovative products from Greek Companies "Greek Innovation Day", which is organisedby the Hellenic Pavilion.

- He will visit:

• The US Naval Academy, for the drafting of common programmesof military training, in cooperation with the Hellenic Naval Academy.

• The Hellenic Embassy and the Hellenic Military Delegation.

New York (12 - 13 October)

- He will meet with:

• SenatorLeonidasRaptakis.

• The Consul General of Greece in New YorkMr Konstantinos Konstantinou.

• The President of the Hellenic Diaspora Mr Philip Christopher.

• Members of Cultural Clubs and Associations of the Hellenic Diaspora.

- He will visit the US Military Academy West Point, for the drafting of common programmesof military training, in cooperation with the Hellenic Army Academy.

- He will give interviews to the "Cosmos FM Hellenic Public Radio" and to the "THE NATIONAL HERALD" newspaper.
