Venezuela & ALBA News: 9.24.2021: Presidents Maduro and Diaz-Canel Speeches to UN General Assembly: Historic CELAC meeting

Political Prisoner Alex Saab
Ultima Noticias: Alena Douhan reiterates that diplomat Alex Saab must be releasedDouhan stressed that "we are doing everything possible," that "continuing the media campaign is important," noting that her office works to promote the release of the Venezuelan diplomat, detained by Cape Verde at the service of the US.

Venezuela
Almayadeen (Ben Norton): Latin America Challenges Neocolonial OAS, and US Hegemony, at Historic CELAC Summit
It was an important example of Latin America's gradual move away from the Organization of American States (OAS), a neocolonial proxy of Washington, by instead strengthening regional institutions that exclude the United States and Canada. Maduro's presence at the meeting served as yet another blow to the United States' ongoing coup attempts against Venezuela, defying Washington's effort to delegitimize the South American nation's constitutional government.

Venezuelanalysis: UN Expert Alena Douhan Releases Full Report on Impact of US-led Sanctions Against VenezuelaPresenting the findings at the 48th UN Human Rights Council session on September 15, the independent expert reiterated that the wide-reaching sanctions program against Venezuela has had a "devastating" effect on the entire population's living conditions. The insufficiency of basic medicines and their rising prices have likewise placed some 300,000 people at risk. At the same time, 2.6 million children have been deprived of vaccines for meningitis, rotavirus, malaria, measles, yellow fever and influenza.

Speech by President Maduro at the 76th Period of Sessions of the UN General Assembly
Years of threats we have faced, years of fierce campaign and aggression…the Venezuelan people have stood up and in this year 2021, a special and wonderful year that marks the 200th anniversary of the definitive victory of the Battle of Carabobo for our independence. In 2021 we have already passed from a cruel, painful phase of resistance to a phase of recovery and sustained growth with science, innovation, technology and the spiritual capacity of a working people that refuses to bend and that is a rebellious, free people, that it grows and has grown in all the difficulties that have touched us during these years.
We have taken the path of recovery and integral growth of our nation. We have taken the path of deployment of the productive forces of a country subjected to an infernal blockade, criminal persecution and cruel torture of its economic and social body. And we say to the peoples of the world with courage, with decision, with intelligence and wisdom: Yes, we can, confront imperial aggressions and move forward.

Ultima Noticias: Maduro: 7 million families are benefiting from CLAP "If we combine those 7 million with the 21 million that are protected by social benefits, we will be clearer where to go with the great missions, such as the Great Mission Barrio Nuevo Barrio Tricolor, that is, we have to go everywhere, to the neighborhoods and urbanizations ", the President declared.

Nicaragua
Tortilla con Sal (Stephen Sefton): Sergio Ramirez on Nicaragua - treason all over again
Ramirez was Daniel Ortega's Vice-President from 1985 to 1990. In 1994, after failing to oust Daniel Ortega from the FSLN leadership he and other ex-Sandinistas formed a social democrat party called the Sandinista Renewal Movement (MRS). After a desperately poor electoral showing in 1996, Ramirez ostensibly retired from politics. But he remained a very high profile, virulent political critic of President Ortega and has been extremely active and influential mobilizing international opinion in Latin America, North America and Europe against Nicaragua's Sandinista government. In effect, Ramirez leverages his international influence to compensate for the comprehensive lack of support inside Nicaragua for the political opposition he represents.

NicaNotes: United States Once Again Attacking Government of NicaraguaSince the house arrest of former president Violeta Barrios de Chamorro's daughter Cristiana Chamorro for money laundering and other crimes, the US and international assault against the Sandinista government has grown. The Nicaraguan government is investigating and has indicted individuals who, with US support, directives, and funding, were planning to carry out destabilization efforts in Nicaragua - including a coup d'état, should Ortega win in November - that would have inevitably led to economic disaster and loss of life. These US agents are accused of serious crimes that would be serious crimes in the US and any country in the world.

Cuba
Granma: Cuban President Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez speech to the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly
The implementation of neo-liberal formulas for decades has been reducing States' capabilities to meet the needs of their populations…We will never tire of repeating that the squandering of natural resources and the irrational capitalist patterns of production and consumption, which depredate the environment and cause the climate change that jeopardizes the existence of the human species should cease. There must be a collective effort; but developed countries, the main responsible for the current situation, which own all the resources that are needed, have the moral obligation to take responsibility.
It often uses the term "international community" to refer to the small group of governments that tend to irretrievably follow Washington's dictates. The rest of the countries, which account for the overwhelming majority of this Organization, seem to have no place in the "international community" definition advocated by the United States.
