No one is above the law, not even former presidents – Daily High Five

1. GRASSLEY AND ERNST OPPOSE FBI, BACK TRUMP : After learning of the FBI's search at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home, many Republicans, including Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst, are backing up the former president and criticizing the federal government. We know that for this search to take place, a federal judge had to have found probable cause and authorized a search warrant. And let's not forget, the current director of the FBI was appointed by Trump himself.

Share our tweet to remind Senators Grassley and Ernst that no one is above the law, not even former presidents.

And here's the other big news we're following today:

2. INSULIN VOTE HURTS IOWANS: In case it slipped your mind, Senators Ernst and Grassley voted against capping insulin prices earlier this week. Now, we're hearing from real Iowans who are negatively impacted by that decision. No one should have to choose between buying life-saving medication or going broke.

3. PACT ACT BECOMES LAW: This morning, President Biden signed the PACT Act into law, which will provide additional care for veterans exposed to burn pits and Agent Orange. The bipartisan bill is the biggest expansion to veterans' health care and benefits in the last three decades.

4. BIDEN BRINGS DOWN PRICES: According to the Consumer Price Index report for July, inflation and gas prices are dropping! This is just more great news following last week's unemployment report for July, which showed the Biden Administration added more than 528,000 jobs. Thank you to the Biden Administration for continuing to deliver for working families!

5. ARPA ASSISTANCE: The city of Dyersville is getting $12.5 million in funding to build a baseball stadium at the "Field of Dreams" movie site. The money comes from the latest round of grants from Destination Iowa, which is funded by President Biden's American Rescue Plan.

Also, today we want to share our support for workers with BCTGM Local 100-G in Cedar Rapids and more on strike. To read more about their advocacy, check out Iowa Starting Line's article here.
